Autumn

The crabtree is gently laying down her golden leaves revealing dangling rubies as the sparrows hop along her branches.  The sparrows are in their spa, leaving dusty dimples in the garden ground and splashing up sparkling droplets in the water bath.  It's early Fall and the strong oaks that line the ridge across the road are still green, save one.  As thoughts turn to quiet, dark evenings in front of the warming fire, I have determined to set down a few jewels that soften our nest.  While you grow, my darlings, it is the warmth of a wood fire, the smell of roasting pumpkins and a tummy full of healthy broth with which I love you in Autumn.
